Currently Working On (03/08/10)
Right now I’m working on a version of this (http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh§ion&q=cthulhu+crochet+ski+mask#/d2hxzgh) for my housemate.
I’m up to the tentacles. He’s asked for them to be longer (much longer - down to his stomach!) and that’s proving to be a problem. I can’t get them to curl right. I’ve made about 3 test tentacles (there’s a sentance I’d never thought I’d type) and so far none of them look right, or are even long enough. Kinda annoying, but I’ll get there in the end, I’m sure.
Recently I’ve been working on a pair of socks from an old crochet book that I found in a second hand book store (The Family Crochet Book). They aren’t turning out quite like I’ve hoped so I’ve put them aside for now so as to resist the urge to completely frog* them and start all over again.

One of the granny squares for the blanket. Pardon the poor picture, I promise it looks better in real life!
And finally I’m also slowly working on granny square lap blanket ….. thing. I’ve always loved the look of granny squares and my boyfriend’s mother bought me 2 skeins of wonderful soft wool when we visited her last, so whenever I need a project to keep my hands but not my mind busy I work on those. I’ve made 10 squares so far and have nearly used up my first skein of wool. Hopefully it will turn out as nice as it looks in my head.
(*frog = unpick/pull apart in crafty terms. Some people also say ‘Penelope stitch’ after Odysseus’s with in the Odyssey.)
